Dear Neighbor,

I hope you are doing well in these troubling times. In this moment where neighbors are being divided and norms eroded, I am very focused on the importance of building and preserving community.

We have just completed the challenging 2026 legislative session. Thank you for letting me be your state senator. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of Forest Grove, Cornelius, Hillsboro and Rock Creek. Working first on the Hillsboro School Board, and now in the Legislature, has been the greatest privilege of my life.

I’m proud of the key Democratic priorities we were able to pass this session, including:

  • Rejecting Trump’s tax cuts, putting working families and small businesses first over billionaires.

  • New protections for our immigrant neighbors, including legislation to stop ICE agents from using masks and other attempts to conceal their identities, prohibiting discrimination in education related to immigration or citizenship status, and making health care and hospitals safer.

  • Protecting access to reproductive rights by successfully restoring Planned Parenthood funding that had been cut by the federal government.

  • Increased protections for consumers from exploitative lenders.

I’ve lived in this community my entire life – growing up in Gales Creek, graduating from Forest Grove High School, and my husband and I raising our two boys in Hillsboro. As a legislator, I’ve hosted over 160 community listening sessions, leading with my motto: “Listen. Learn. Act.” Supporting our community is joy through hard work. I have delivered for Senate District 15 by securing funding for:

  • Forest Grove Senior Center improvements, helping keep a beloved community center open and accessible for our senior residents

  • Adelante Mujeres, bringing food security to economically vulnerable immigrant families during the COVID-19 recovery

  • Washington County's Courthouse Replacement Planning Project, expanding accessibility, accommodating additional judges and staff, and alleviating caseload constraints.

  • Hillsboro Hops new ballpark, ensuring the team's future in Hillsboro while boosting economic development and community identity in Senate District 15.

I’ve also played a key role in passing big, statewide initiatives as well. The Reproductive Health Equity Act to protect our reproductive rights and access to care. Smart gun safety legislation to require the safe storage of firearms. Improving Oregon’s Bottle Bill and passing policies to modernize recycling and reduce the use of plastics. And historic funding for our schools and Career Technical Education through the Student Success Act.

This May, I’m facing a primary election race. I’m asking that you stand with me as we continue this work together. You’ll be joining U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden, Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, Attorney General Dan Rayfield, State Treasurer Elizabeth Steiner, 30 of my Democratic colleagues in the Oregon Legislature and countless local leaders. They are joined by local unions representing firefighters, ironworkers, electricians, and more. They know that together we can continue the work and push back against the destruction of the Trump Administration.

Election Day is May 19. I will be proud to run on my record of delivering for Senate District 15 neighbors.

Thank you for everything you are doing in our community to help get us through these difficult and divided times. Please do not hesitate to reach out. I am here with you.

Onward & Upward
